The FUSION system calculates multiple glucose metrics in real time, so that the patient’s physician can determine if an adjustment to the current glucose control range is necessary. In our simulation study, we noted that hypoglycemia could be minimized by increasing the lower end of the glucose control range from 70 mg/dL to 100 mg/dL, as noted below.

SE – Glucose sensor error rate.   Hypoglycemic range is < 70 mg/dL.

The following glucose metrics will either be displayed or available through a push of a button on the FUSION systems graphical user interface:
Percent time in range < 40 mg/dL
Percent time in range < 54 mg/dL
Percent time in range < 70 mg/dL
Percent time in range 70-140 mg/dL
Percent time in range 70-180 mg/dL
Percent time in range > 140 mg/dL
Percent time in range > 180 mg/dL
Percent time in range > 240 mg/dL
Percent time in range for desired control range (e.g., 100-140 mg/dL)
Average glucose value
Standard deviation
Coefficient of variation
Area under the curve < 70 mg/dL
Area under the curve > 180 mg/dL
